Coordinator/Crewperson and Groundworker

The individual must complete TVPPA’s Lineman Apprenticeship program including assignments and final testing (a 4-year program). The physical demands of the job are considered “Heavy” and the candidate must successfully pass BGMU’s physical demands testing.
Essential duties of the position are as follows:
- Must be able to safely ascend/descend poles and ladders to complete installs and repairs of cross arms, transformers, wires and insulators
- Must be able to install/replace streetlights
- Must be able to utilize hoists to raise/lower materials from poles and/or bucket truck lift
- Must be able to pull wire on lines with hoists
- Must be able to dig with spades and posthole diggers to install poles
- Must be able to operate jackhammer to break rock when installing poles
- Must be able to utilize various hand tools such as pop tool (for squeezing wire) and bolt cutters
- Must be able to carry equipment and materials to/from worksite
- Must be able to access underground junction boxes to complete various repairs and installs
- Must be able to perform safety rescues per regulation that includes but is not limited to performing safety rescues of coworkers suspended from poles by lowering with pulleys, performing CPR and administering First Aid
- Must be able to operate motor vehicle to locate worksites
