Business Attraction Strategist
This senior level position, reporting directly to the President, leads all regional economic development efforts to attract targeted interstate commerce employers to the region.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy business attraction sales strategies focused on targeted industry clusters.
- Work with the regional joint venture, ICR Iowa, on business attraction marketing to targeted industry clusters.
- Assist other team members with existing business expansion and retention, workforce development and other projects for which business and partner relationships you have might benefit the project.
- Support client inquiries, site visits, incentive submissions and other tasks.
- Submit outstanding, comprehensive, regional project proposals.
- Build strong and positive relationships with local economic developers, brokers, partners and stakeholders.
- Leverage key partner strategies and resources to increase impact.
- Share relevant project opportunities with local economic development partners and assist them, as needed, on information submission and project support through project completion.
- Analyze and share industry cluster and workforce data that can drive business attraction strategies.
- Represent the Economic Alliance and ICR Iowa region at economic development trade shows, conferences, events and meetings, coordinating out-of-state headquarters visits when applicable.
- Share information with team and input relevant data to internal systems.
- Collect and report strategy metrics to share progress with partners and stakeholders.

Desired candidate must demonstrate the ability to contribute to organizational and community transformation. They should be a dynamic, agile, energetic and creative leader with proven results. They should be good at building strong working relationships and demonstrate superior customer service. Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are required. This position requires occasional statewide and national travel.
Bachelor’s degree is required with preference for advanced degree. 5-7 years of senior-level experience developing and leading economic development initiatives is required. CEcD preferred but training/coursework in pursuit of certification or equivalent experience accepted.
