JOB SUMMARY: Performs a variety of general, mechanical, electrical and preventative maintenance as well as inspections, servicing/repair, and overhaul of equipment and facilities of the hospital.

- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be proficient with hand tools.
- Must be able to climb 25 ft ladder.
- Must be able to stand 1/3 day and or walk 2/3 day.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Displays and maintains behavior which promotes good guest relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers. Installs, maintains, and repairs mechanical devices and electrical systems such as pumps, motors, conveyor systems, laboratory equipment, air conditioning, refrigeration, and air handling equipment and controls.
- Assists in maintaining uninterrupted efficient and safe operation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
- The mechanic may install, inspect, maintain, repair and adjust motors, generators, controllers, switches, and various types of electric lighting.
- May work with signal power equipment, locate and clear short circuits, repair and maintain various electronic equipment throughout the hospital.
- Must be skilled in using ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter and circuitry testing equipment.
- Must be capable of examining, testing, and repairing distribution panels, controls, and motors.
- This position will focus primarily on HVAC systems.
- The preferred candidate will possess commercial HVAC certification or have comparable experience in HVAC maintenance and repair.
- Experience with HVAC control systems and system diagnostics are essential.
- Knowledge of boiler operation and building chillers is a necessity.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Trade/Technical school degree/diploma, or apprenticeship in either electrical, plumbing or HVAC, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, requires 4 years’ experience as a mechanic.
- 5 years of previous experience in building maintenance systems, HVAC, plumbing & mechanical systems, with previous healthcare experience preferred.
- Mandatory Annual Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Confidentiality-HIPAA, Infection Control, Corporate Compliance. Annual Unit Specific Competencies, and all education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies and/or Hancock Regional Hospital.
