Accountant

Hudson River HealthCare (“HRHCare”) is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County.
HRHCare is currently seeking a full-time Accountant to join our team in Peekskill.
The Accountant will perform accounting duties related to cash management, financial statement preparation and account analysis. The candidate must be able to prepare J/E's, perform bank reconciliations and prepare audit schedules; including prepaid accounts, fixed assets and payables.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of an Accountant:
- Assist with daily cash deposits, working with site managers to reconcile discrepancies
- Assist with monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare and enter monthly journal entries and review for accuracy
- Perform monthly analysis of accounts, noting significant changes from prior year and budget
- Work with AP Staff to identify possible accruals and verify information into GL
- Maintain workpapers/analysis on significant accounts monthly and year-end audit review
- Analysis of trends and possible impact to year-end projections
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements
- Assist with year-end audit work and annual budget preparation
- Assist the Controller and VPs with various projects and performs any other duties as assigned
Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree with experience in healthcare or not-for-profit agency
Minimum Work-Related Experience: 2-4 years
Specialized Skills & Knowledge: Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
