PURPOSE
The Maintenance Team Member in Optimization will support the manufacturing teams by providing quality maintenance duties to maximize paper machine availability and minimize off-quality product.  The individual must support and exemplify the vision and organizational values of International Paper and the Cedar River Mill.

Starting wage of $30.83 with a future wage up to a rate of $39.91.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The key accountabilities listed below are not to be considered all-inclusive; a team member may be required to perform additional tasks, as directed, and based on changing business needs of the company.
  • Performs maintenance duties to troubleshoot and repair defective equipment in a timely manner.
  • Responds to assigned work orders and inputs to the Computerized Maintenance Management System the work performed on the equipment specified in the work order.
  • Performs predictive and preventative maintenance duties and generates work requests in SAP to repair defective equipment.
  • Communicates closely with the team leader and other team members on the status of work progress.
  • Assists in the education of other team members to produce a multi-functional maintenance department.
  • Assists the manufacturing teams as necessary in their tasks such as felt changes and process troubleshooting.
  • Works closely with all team members to ensure that work is done in a safe manner.
  • Works as part of a team which is responsible for the condition of all process and non-process equipment.
  • Works with process and project engineers to install new equipment and modify existing equipment.
  • Works as part of a Process Ownership System.
  • Coaches safety in others and leads by example.
  • Understands and meets internal and external customer requirements.
  • Develops, maintains, and uses reliable methods for all processes and their improvements.
  • Assists other team members in the mill as necessary to minimize downtime and maintain quality.
  • Maintains and develops team relationships.
  • Develops and stays current in cross-functional maintenance skills.
  • Fullfill area specific 5S expectations(5 Minute 5S Checklists Replenishment of tools and supplies, 5S Audits,etc)
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • Must be able to wear all required personal safety.
  • Noise levels in excess of 90 dB with hearing protection.
  • Heat in excess of 100°F occasionally
  • Working environment is 24/7 – ability to be on-call as needed and/or required.
  • Must be able to remain in stationary position 80% of shift time.
  • Walking:   Within immediate area and up and down several floors.
  • Lifting:   Up to 50 pounds; i.e., propane tank and contents = 50 pounds, or working shutdowns.
  • Carrying:   Periodically tools, repair materials and equipment to multiple levels.
  • Push/Pull:   Assist in pushing 7,000 pound rolls; assist in pulling 6,000-7,000 pound machine clothing, maintenance tool boxes and tools as needed for tasks.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends stairs, ladders and into tanks ,into and onto tanks and other vessels
  • Upper body mobility in order to drive roll grab/bale grab, skid loader.
  • Some assignments require kneeling, crouching, bending, and twisting while installing, troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
 
KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE 
Minimum
  • Minimum of three years industrial maintenance experience
  • Proven record of safe work practices.
  • Auditory perception to respond to safety and operational sounds.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions in English.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be part of a multi-functional/multi-skill maintenance organization with a willingness to flow to work as required by changing mill conditions and priorities.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Word and Excel.
 
 
Preferred
  • 5 or more years experience in paper mill maintenance.
  • Pipefitting skills.
  • Welding skills to include cutting and torch work, stick welding, TIG stainless steel welding, high pressure pipe welding.
  • Experience working in High Performance Work Systems.
  • Experience working in a team-based, customer and quality-focused environment.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP.
