Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Apply advanced data analysis methods, including fraud and abuse detection
- Provide technical support to audit teams in the areas of research design, data analysis, sampling methods, and statistical analysis techniques
- Conduct background research to assist with assessing relevant planning factors, develop a preliminary plan, assess audit risk, and finalize audit plan
- Conduct interviews, gather evidence, analyze agency data, develop and conduct basic surveys
- Review statutes, regulations, and best practices
- Prepare written audit reports
- Work on projects to improve internal policies and work processes
- Analyze state agency transaction data to find potential fraud, waste or abuse
- Develops new methods and tests
- Perform advanced statistical analysis, such as multi-variable regressions using advanced models (e.g. panel or time series data) for complex audit questions, including full support of the analysis from cleaning, setting up data, choosing appropriate methods, performing the analysis and describing the results
- Provide training sessions for staff on quantitative data analysis, methods, and tools for staff with a variety of skill levels
- Stage and analyze internal administrative data that is used by management for regular reports or on an ad hoc basis
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or a related field. Two years of experience in government performance auditing.
Conditions of Employment
The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain an agency security clearance and pass a fingerprint-based criminal history background check. The candidate also must relocate near the Topeka, Kansas area.
