District Online Technology/Data Specialist
Directly Responsible To:
Director of Online Schools/Operations Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Technology/Data Specialist will provide technical support to the online District support staff as directed by their supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Equipment/Software Evaluation, Recommendation, Implementation Work with Online Department District staff and vendors to assess, evaluate, implement, and support computer software or purchased services where technical expertise is required.
Customer Service
Assist Online Department staff and online operations with technology as needed. Random visits into our online provider’s portal to insure attendance of online students to determine if they are online full time or part time students. Take the lead on online student count process ensuring the online school is providing all documentation required by the District to enroll students and verify their grade placement. Insure all online information is being entered into a data base which will be organized and easy to access and use when performing data searches. All data for the Online Department will be digitized as it is received. Inclusion into staff meetings are necessary as discussion may lead to technical questions. Will be lead person in building graphs, data bases and or spread sheets for tracking data. Will work with District Technology Coordinator to insure the Online Department continues to use common systems throughout the District and informs them of new systems being used by the Online Department that may require support from the District system such as common data access.
State Reporting
Work with physical and online schools to submit all data as required by CDE.
Training
Provide training for Online Department Staff in new services or software as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Associate’s Degree or equivalent in experience.
Training and Experience
Any combination of training and/or experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties as described; a typical qualifying background would include work experience in a computer environment involving: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and Google. Experience working at a school site is desirable.
Skills and Ability to Operate standard office equipment; accurately, maintain complex databases and information systems; learn new software applications; communicate effectively in oral and written form; utilize time management techniques to organize and prioritize work; multitask effectively; work independently; read, interpret, and apply rules, laws, and procedures; follow instructions, maintain strict confidentiality of student, family, and program information; work cooperatively and effectively with students, parents/guardians; lift or carry items as needed.
Job Specific Assignments:
● Collect and scrub online data as it pertains to the contract, state and federal requirements and all CDE data collection requirements; enrollment, student count, human resource data, financial transparency data as it all pertains both directly and indirectly to the online schools.
● Remain current in technology developments by attending trainings and webinars for Data Pipeline submissions.
● Assist with creation and maintenance of district website as it pertains to the online schools.
● Recommend the selection and purchasing of hardware and software.
● Maintain Online Department inventory.
● Work in cooperation with district administrators to support district and school wide goals.
● Present updates to the Director of Online Schools/Operations Manager.
