The Nederland Food Pantry, including the Clothing Closet and Community Gardens, is a 501-c3 nonprofit that has been fulfilling its mission to relieve hunger and provide basic needs and support to the Peak to Peak community in a respectful and compassionate manner since 1986. It is recognized as the Human Service agency for Nederland by Nederland’s Board of Trustees, and serves as the primary human service agency for the Peak to Peak region of Boulder County.


The Nederland Food Pantry is seeking an Executive Director with a passion for human services and who possesses the communication and management skills needed to motivate, inspire and empower others to meet our mission. The new Executive Director will be a proven leader with a history of success, excellent communication skills, and an openness to collaborate with other agencies. A passion for the mission and the community are essential. The leader needs to have great people skills and be comfortable with diverse populations including people who are homeless or going through other traumatic experiences. Whether the freezer breaks, a delivery doesn’t come through, or a donor doesn’t renew a gift, the leader needs to be able to handle a variety of different situations with thoughtfulness, flexibility, and resilience. On an average day, the Executive Director needs to be ringmaster, a cheerleader for volunteers, and a strategic thinker.


The Executive Director of the Food Pantry, Clothing Closet, and Community Gardens is responsible for the overall running of the organization, managing staff and volunteers to provide services to clients, leading fundraising initiatives, developing and maintaining key community relationships, and implementing the Boards vision and mission. The Executive Director works collaboratively with the Board of Directors.

Job Requirements

  • Maintain current permits and licenses
  • Oversight of facility and equipment
  • Collaborate with other agencies
  • Management of Clothing Closet and Community Gardens
  • Leading and participating in human service events
  • Understanding and working with budget
  • Making sure grant requirements are met
  • Food procurement
  • Managing staff and volunteers
  • Leading fundraising
  • Work with board of directors to implement vision and mission of the organization
  • Work established food distribution days and meet with clients during non-distribution times


Required Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit management, including strategic planning
  • Experience motivating and inspiring staff and volunteers
  • Strong commitment to human services community;
  • Strong communication skills including listening, public speaking and writing
  • Skills with building partnership and networking in community
  • Experience working in partnership with a Board
  • Fundraising experience
  • Competent with current IT skills & social media
  • Oversight of facility and equipment maintenance/ management
  • Experience with building and managing budgets and grant requirements
  • Must live in Peak to Peak region


Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Peak to Peak region
  • Grant writing experience
  • Experience working with diverse populations


Salary based on qualifications and experience: $55,000 -$65,000 annual
