Specific Role and Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate circulation services through the library automation system including checkout, renewal, and return of library materials.
- Analyze patron information needs, select and recommend library resources to best match educational and research needs.
- Assist library patrons as requested or needed; provide basic information and directional services; assist patrons with searching online databases, the library catalog, and the internet.
- Maintain and compile selected statistics and generate specific reports utilizing the library automation system.
- Create bibliographic records in the library automation system for reserve materials, interlibrary loaned books, and circulation of special requests; input MARC formatting and comply with Library of Congress classification guidelines; assist with the cataloging process, including copy cataloging.
- Process books, periodicals and updates; maintain areas of collection; support bibliographic maintenance procedures.
- Operate all technology applications in the library, including the internet, online catalog, student PC’s scanners, printers, copiers, etc.
- Answer circulation desk telephone; receive and distribute messages and requests for library services; process patron requests for items such as class scheduling, reserves, interlibrary loans and renewals.
- In all duties assigned, show a commitment to excellent customer service: to include students, faculty, college employees, and the community served by Northeast State; be an active part of the Northeast State team.

Requirements of the Position
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Education - Minimum of an Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Experience - Customer service related
- Technology Skills: MS Office skills, Word, Excel, Access; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
Preferred Skills
- Library experience preferred
- Experience preparing library materials for use such as book taping, stamping, and sensitizing library inventory
- Demonstrated experience functioning in a team-oriented environment
Additional Notes
- Schedule: Saturday 9am – 5pm, while classes are in session
Compensation: $13.25 per hour
