Chief Financial Officer
Job Summary: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is part of the organization's executive leadership team and assists in the development of the organizations long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies especially as they relate to financial implications for the organization. The CFO is responsible for providing overall leadership, coordination, planning, development and administration of the finance function to support the organization. The CFO directs treasury, cash flow forecasting, budgeting, audit preparation, accounting, compliance control, risk insurance activities, information systems management and facilities management and is the chief financial spokesperson for the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, expense statements, balance sheets, reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board of Directors, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies
- Oversees accounting functions of the service centers that include accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger preparation, financial statement preparation and other accounting functions
- Directs the development, installation and administration of the organization's overall audit program (including a timely and accurate budget preparation process)
- Establishes finance operational strategies by evaluating trends; establishing critical measurements; determining production, productivity and quality
- Develops organization prospects by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities; projecting acquisition and expansion prospects; analyzing organization operations; identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement; accumulating capital to fund organizational priorities
- Develops financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identifying monetary resources; developing action plans and effectively communicating potential risks
- Interacts with managers to provide consultative support for planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports and recommendations
- Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce financial policies and procedures that will systemically improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization
- Provide timely and accurate analyses of budgets, cash flow and cash flow forecasting, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO, COO, the Board and other administrative leaders in performing their responsibilities
- Work closely with the development team to develop budgets for grants/proposals and provide financial reports to grantors
- Continually develop professional business acumen by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining professional networks; participating in professional organizations
- Responsible for technology and facilities management for maximum efficiency of the organization
- Ensure full transparency over the financial performance of the organization
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, (e.g. training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing and resolving issues as they arise)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Possess a high degree of initiative, judgement, discretion and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives as well as ensure proper internal controls are in place to safeguard organization assets
- Possess accounting, analytical, strategic planning, management and communication skills
- Have skill developing organizational and/or service line budgets and overseeing budgeting activities for grants, organization operations and capital requirements
- Have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively about financial and other matters with all pertinent stakeholders, including senior management team, Board of Directors and managers as well as external stakeholders including consultants and community leaders
- Be an outstanding leader with skill at developing other leaders in the organization
- Strong interpersonal skills; comfortable working with people at all organizational levels and able to adapt to diverse perspectives and styles
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; MBA preferred
- 10 years' experience in a senior financial managerial position; non-profit experience preferred
- Professional accounting designation desired (CA, CMA, or CPA)
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Abila MIP
- Exceptional communications skills

- Able to monitor and meet revenue goals
- Highly competent computer/processing skills
- Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
