Emergency Veterinarian, Day Shift
We are a privately owned 24-hour general medicine and emergency practice in Aurora, Colorado. Our patients are companion animals and exotics. We have been AAHA accredited since 1986. A tour of our hospital is featured on our website. Our hospital is also featured in the July 2014 issue of Trends Magazine.
Since March 2020, our COVID-19 protocols are still in place, although they may change as restrictions relax. We have a large vestibule at the entrance of our hospital that serves as a transfer point for patients. Clients are generally not invited into the building, although we do make some exceptions. We have a fenced back yard which is sometimes used when weather permits. We're in a free-standing building and have a private parking lot, eliminating drive through and foot traffic.
We are committed to providing the very best medicine to our patients. We have the support team, tools and equipment available along with several specialists who have regular office hours at our hospital. We have 10 DVMs, three of which practice ER medicine exclusively. In order to find the right fit for our team we are offering a signing/retention bonus. It's very important for us to preserve the integrity of our awesome team.
The shift hours are from 7 am to 7 pm, alternating between 3 shifts and 4 shifts per week. General Practice DVMs practice M-F 8-6 and Sat 8-2. Candidates with the best fit enjoy emergency medicine's unique challenges and rewards. We have a very collaborative professional team and a positive culture. Even though we have plenty of patients that need us, we still find time for some wellness activities and humor. Our benefit package includes a 401k retirement savings plan with employer matching, paid association dues, group medical plan, malpractice insurance, continuing education allowance, DEA Registration, Colorado License renewal, employee assistance program and more. We are a drug-free workplace and perform background checks on all new team members.
The Denver area is one of the most dog-friendly places, and we are close to the foothills for summer and winter activities. Many restaurants and breweries in the area have dog friendly patios. It's said that Colorado has 300 days of sunshine a year!
The daytime ER associate will manage the 'urgent' and emergency cases that present during their shift as well as managing the hospitalized patients. ER DVMs will perform surgeries to their comfort level and direct the support staff for treatments and client communication. We are digital (paper very lite); Impromed Infinity, radiographs (full and dental), whiteboard, TeleVet, etc. We use Cubex for our controlled substances.
We have monthly section meetings, bi-monthly team leader meetings, and weekly lead person meetings. Communication is a key to our well-being.
