Social Services Professional
Southeastern Louisiana University Department of Department of Health and Human Sciences, grant program Discovery/Renew Family Resource Projects invites applications for the position of Social Service Professional.
The Social Services Professional position is based at the Discovery Family Resource Project in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Discovery, which began operations in 1999, is primarily funded by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). The agency provides parent education, case management, domestic violence and kinship caregiver services, primarily to DCFS families in an eight parish area of south Louisiana. Services are provided in-home as well as virtually.
The position includes traveling to provide in-home services as well as maintaining group meetings at Discovery or in selected sites in one of the parishes. Virtual services are provided when appropriate. The Social Services Professional is trained to provide case assessment and analysis, parent education, family skills building, visit coaching and documentation. This position also requires maintaining files, regular communication with the DCFS case workers, monthly documentation, and reports of services provided.
Discovery works in conjunction with the Renew Family Resource Project in Hammond, both under the auspices of Southeastern Louisiana University. The two sites provide a dynamic environment for early career professionals as well as those seeking a more fulfilling job. On the job training, working with interns as well as experienced and credentialed personnel, weekly case consultation opportunities and continuing education provide a great setting for people looking for a career in human services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field from an accredited university.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to provide social services to families and children. Must be committed to working with diversity. Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to successfully complete the Southeastern Driver Safety Course.
