Volunteer Advocate
The Area Agency on Aging is seeking a volunteer to serve as an advocate for residents in long-term care. Nursing home residents retain all their legal rights when they enter a nursing home. Volunteer Ombudsmen are trained to protect residents' rights and serve in a nursing home in their community. The Upper Arkansas Area Agency on Aging is recruiting a volunteer who wants to make a difference in the lives of elders residing in assisted living facilities and nursing homes. Fremont County is in need of a Volunteer Ombudsman to be a voice for the residents, to assess problems, and to come to a resolution. If you have free time, please consider helping maintain or improve the quality of life for residents in long-term care facilities. Once trained, volunteers are asked to spend just a few hours a month in this important and life-changing program. Mileage is reimbursed and letters of recommendation are available to those who qualify.
