UW Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a NIGHT SHIFT, FULL TIME, HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR. The incumbent will supervise the Environmental Services department by organizing workflow, managing personnel and supplies to ensure efficient functioning and cost effectiveness of the department, and maintaining housekeeping standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures that housekeeping staff consistently perform work in an effective, safe, and technically correct manner
Forms, manages, and maintains an effective team of employees; orients, trains, develops skills, and manages performance
Presents in-service education programs, monitors compliance with all department and hospital procedures, facilitates transfer of information at shift change to ensure seamless continuation of service
Identifies staffing needs and proactively takes appropriate action; flexes staffing to accommodate workload and priority fluctuations, prepares employee schedules and prioritizes daily work activities, assigns and checks work, acts as expert technical resource and assists staff with problems and questions
Makes rounds of patient care units, public and office areas to evaluate environmental services operations and state of the environment, monitors quality control data, and takes prompt action when a problem occurs
Performs housekeeping duties during short staffing or to facilitate completion of special projects
Inventories and orders supplies, facilitates distribution of supplies and equipment to staff, assures that equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, repaired and in safe working order, troubleshoots and resolves equipment problems, and assists with linen service management as needed
Serves as liaison to other departments, serves as a member of hospital committees, task forces, and working groups
Assists department manager to establish and update standards, procedures, and policies, including disaster procedures
REQUIREMENTS:
Two to four years’ experience supervising or directing others in large-scale housekeeping, janitorial, general or building maintenance or custodial work
DESIRED:
A two- year college degree is preferred
Professional peer group certification in housekeeping management preferred
