Computer Support Specialist
Provide support for users of office automation software and network support in a fast and efficient manner. Install new hardware and software as needed. Receive calls, diagnose issues, and resolve problems or contact other technical resources to assist in prompt restoration of equipment and software. Facilitate timely completion of support duties for Student Affairs employees including operational, fiscal and technical duties. Provides accurate record keeping for inventory, purchasing and Network Information Systems (NIS) orders. Provides telephone support for users of common office automation software and network first line support.
Required Qualifications:
Previous experience providing tech support for Windows and Macintosh environments in a professional setting. Demonstrated knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office software suite. Excellent interpersonal communications skills. Adept at troubleshooting and problem-solving hardware and software. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a work group. Ability to work efficiently in stressful situations. Ability to use and manage trouble ticket system.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent related computer support experience. Knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia purchasing procedures, NIS procedures and computer networks. Previous experience with inventory and associated record keeping.
